Description of key information
Appearance
The test material was observed to be an amber coloured liquid.
Melting/freezing point
The pour point of the test item was determined to be -9 ± 3 °C (264 ± 3 K) (OECD 102 and EU Method A.1).
Boiling point
When investigated using differential scanning calorimetry, the test item was determined to undergo self-reaction from approximately 118 °C (391 K) at 102 kPa followed by partial boiling (approximately 75%) from approximately 227 °C (500 K). As a result of the reaction, no value for the boiling point of the original components of the test item could be determined (OECD 103 and EU Method A.2).
Relative density
Density of the test item was determined to be 1.02 x 10E03 kg/m3 at 20.0 ± 1.0 °C using the pycnometer method and the relative density was reported as 1.02 (OECD 109 and EU Method A.3).
Granulometry
Determination of particle size distribution is not relevant because the substance is not marketed or used in solid or granular form.
Vapour pressure
The vapour pressure of the test item was determined to be 0.1 Pa at 25 °C (298 K) and 15.0 Pa at 80 °C (353 K) (OECD 104 and EU Method A.4).
Partition coefficient
The slow stirring method was used to determine partition coefficients for cationic and anionic components because the test item was an organic salt. Weighted average Log10 Pow values were reported as 4.94 (cationic components) and 4.15 (anionic components) at a nominal 25 °C (OECD 123 and EU Method A.23).
Water solubility
With a nominal loading rate of 0.1 g/L, water solubility of the test item was determined by the flask method and HPLC-MS analysis to be < 1.36 x 10E-03 g/L (positive mode), < 5.7 x 10E-02 g/L (negative mode). The result was also expressed in terms of TOC as 1.61 x 10E-02 g/L at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C (OECD 105 and EU Method A.6).
Surface tension
The surface tension of solutions prepared at nominally 1.1 g/L of test item in water and diluted to 90 % saturation was determined to be 48.1 mN/m at 21.5 ± 0.5 °C and the substance was considered to be surface-active (OECD 115 and EU Method A.5).
Flash point
The flashpoint of the test item was determined to be 143 ± 2 °C (EU Method A.9).
Autoflammability
The test item was determined to have an autoignition temperature of 332 ± 5 °C (EU Method A.15).
Flammability
The test item is a liquid and, in line with ECHA Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance (Version 5.0; December 2016), relevant properties for classification of the substance as flammable are the determined flash point and boiling point. Further experimental investigation of flammability is therefore not required.
Explosive properties
The result for explosive properties was predicted negative based on the chemical structure of the test item (EU Method A.14).
Oxidising properties
The result for oxidising properties was predicted negative based on the chemical structure of the test item (EU Method A.21).
