Description of key information

In general, daphnia are the most sensitive species towards toxicity to proteolytic enzymes due to the catalytic activity of proteases. The present enzyme has been tested for aquatic toxicity in daphnia and based on our knowledge on proteolytic enzyme, a PNEC value derived from test with daphnid will also protect algae. Hence we do not consider an algal growth inhibition test necessary for bacillolysin.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
