Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
vapour pressure
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
Experimental dates: October 17, 2017 to January 11, 2018
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Remarks:
The study was conducted according to an internationally recognized method, and under GLP. No deviation was reported. The test substance is adequately characterised. Therefore full validation applies.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 104 (Vapour Pressure Curve)
Version / remarks:
2006
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.4 (Vapour Pressure)
Version / remarks:
Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, as modified by Reg.(EC) No 761/2009,
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Remarks:
inspected on 20 & 21 June 2017 / signed on 04 September 2017
Type of method:
effusion method: Knudsen cell
Specific details on test material used for the study:
The test item was tested as received.
Key result
Temp.:
20 °C
Vapour pressure:
0.041 Pa
Temp.:
25 °C
Vapour pressure:
0.09 Pa

The corresponding measured vapour pressures are listed in the table below:

 Temperature (°C)  Vapour Pressure (hPa)
 10  7.1 E-5
 15  n.e.
 20  n.e.
 25  1.0 E-3
 30 2.0 E-3
 35 3.7 E-3
 40 6.6 E-3
 30 2.3 E-3

n.e./ not evaluable due to technical malfunction

The values for 20 and 25°C are calculated by interpolation, using the Antoine equation:

logVP (hPa) = 16.71075 - 5890.87 / (273.15 + T[°C])

(Using a value of 273.15 for constant C results in a linear dependency of log(VP) of the inverse temperature 1/T (in K). This is verified only for a limited temperature range.)

After the measurement a mass loss of approx. 39 % (w/w) was determined.

Conclusions:
Low volatility (based on volatility bands criteria for occupational exposure (Chesar / ECETOC TRA), << 500 Pa).
Executive summary:

The vapour pressure of the test substance was measured under GLP according to OECD 104 / EU A4 guideline, effusion (Knudsen cell) method.

Eight measurements were recorded between 10 and 40°C.

The vapour pressure at 20°C was interpolated from the regression with the Antoine equation at 0.041 Pa.

Description of key information

Low volatility.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Vapour pressure:
0.041 Pa
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

A fully reliable experimental study, conducted according to a recognized OECD/EC method and under GLP, is available. It is considered as a key study, and the result is retained as key data.
