Description of key information

Water solubility [1-(tert-butyldimethylsilyl)piperazine]: not relevant due to very rapid hydrolysis

 

Water Solubility [tert-butyldimethylsilanol]: above approximately 80 mg/l condensation reactions can occur over time, limiting the concentration dissolved in water. The calculated solubility is 970 mg/l (QSAR).

 

Water solubility [piperazine]: freely soluble

Additional information

The requirement to conduct a water solubility study for the substance was waived because in contact with water, the substance hydrolyses very rapidly to form tert-butyldimethylsilanol and piperazine. The hydrolysis product, tert-butyldimethylsilanol may undergo condensation reactions in water; these become important above approximately 80 mg/l and can limit the concentration dissolved in water. The water solubility of tert-butyldimethylsilanol has been calculated to be 970 mg/l at 20°C using a validated QSAR method.

 

Piperazine is reported to be freely soluble in water (O'Neil M J (ed) 2001).
