Ethylene glycol hexyl ether is readily biodegradable (97% mineralisation after 20 days based on CO2 evolution, OECD 301B). Based on this result, Ethylene glycol hexyl ether will biodegrade rapidly in surface water. Sorption to particles is minimal and further fate testing in sediment or soil is not indicated.
