Results and discussion

In vivo

Irritant / corrosive response data:
REACH states in Annex VII, "8.1. Skin irritation or skin corrosion / in vitro study" that the in vitro study for skin corrosion can be waived if the substance is flammable in air at room temperature. However, an assessment of the available human and animal data as well as an assessment of the acid or alkaline reserve shall be done.
In this case, the acid or alkaline reserve study cannot be performed due to the solubility properties of cerium. Solids shall be brough into a 10% solution (i.e. 100.000 mg/L) which is about eigth orders of magnitude higher than the solubility of cerium itself (2,7* 10E-3 mg/L).
