Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Lithium salts of fatty acids predominantly C24 - C28 (saturated) has a density of just greater than 1 at 20°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Relative density at 20C:
1.04

Additional information

The data on lithium salts of fatty acids predominantly C24 - C28 (saturated) have been read across from lithium behenate (C22). The results are taken from a proprietary study report following OECD guideline 109 (Harlan 2013), which shows that lithium behenate has a relative density of 1.04 at 20°C.

Data are available on lithium myristate, lithium 12 -hydroxystearate and lithium behenate (Harlan 2013) which show that lithium salts of monocarboxylic acids C14-C22 category have densities of 1.025 – 1.07. Increases in chain length from C22 to C28 are not expected to significantly change properties from carbon chain lengths of C14 to C22 and therefore lithium salts of fatty acids predominantly C24 to C28 is considered to have a density of just greater than 1.
