Endpoint:
boiling point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2016-12-28 – 2016-12-29
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Experimental result performed using standard method of analysis
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 103 (Boiling point/boiling range)
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The boiling point of a liquid is the temperature at which that liquid is converted to a gaseous state. It can be defined as the temperature at which the vapour pressure of the liquid becomes equal to the pressure at the surface of the liquid.
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
method according to Siwoloboff
Boiling pt.:
150.8 °C
Atm. press.:
978.7 hPa
Decomposition:
no
Remarks on result:
other: Other details not available
Conclusions:
The boiling point determination of geranyl butyrate (CAS No. 106-29-6) was done following OECD Guideline 103 and according to the method of Siwoloboff. The test was conducted in replicates and mean boiling point was determined to be 150.8°C at 978.7 hPa.
Executive summary:

The boiling point determination of geranyl butyrate (CAS No. 106-29-6) was done following OECD Guideline 103 and according to the method of Siwoloboff. The test was conducted in replicates and mean boiling point was determined to be 150.8°C at 978.7 hPa.

Description of key information

The boiling point determination of geranyl butyrate (CAS No. 106-29-6) was done following OECD Guideline 103 and according to the method of Siwoloboff. The test was conducted in replicates and mean boiling point was determined to be 150.8°C at 978.7 hPa.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Boiling point at 101 325 Pa:
150.8 °C

Additional information

In an experiment conducted by SSS(Europe)AB,the boiling point determination of geranyl butyrate (CAS No. 106-29-6) was done following OECD Guideline 103 and according to the method of Siwoloboff. The test was conducted in replicates and mean boiling point was determined to be 150.8°C at 978.7 hPa.

Other supporting studies from reliable sources such as handbook and review article suggests that the boiling point of chemical Geranyl butyrate was determined to be in the range of 240 degree C to 350 degree C

As the data from lab has K1 reliability and the test was performed using OECD guidelines which has the value of boiling point temperature as 150.8 degree C at 978.7 hpa, thus considered as key study for the chemical safety assessment
