Conclusion on classification

Short-term toxicity tests for fish, Daphnia and algae are available for the substance. In addition, one reliable NOEC value from algae is available for long-term toxicity. In the three acute toxicity studies the lowest EC50 was found for Daphnia which showed a value of 13 mg/L, which would not warrant an acute aquatic hazard classification under the CLP Regulation 1272/2008/EC. As one reliable long-term toxicity endpoint is available chronic classification needs to be derived on both acute and chronic data and worst case should be taken. The substance is readily biodegradable, the log Kow = 3.75, and together with the NOEC for algae of 2.1 mg/L Cosmofruit will not be classified as an chronic aquatic hazard under the CLP Regulation 1272/2008/EC.
