OECD Guideline 202_Daphnia magna: Based on nominal loading rates of Water Soluble Fractions (WSF): After 48 h exposure: ELR50 = 8.3 mg/L; NOEC = 3.2 mg/L. Based on concentrations of test material in WSF: After 48 h exposure: EC50 = 2.9 mg/L; NOEC = 1.0 mg/L.

Additional information

A study was performed to assess the acute toxicity of the test material to Daphnia magna. The method followed OECD Guideline 202, and the US Code of Federal Regulations Title 40, Part 797, Section 1300. Twenty daphnids (2 replicates of 10 animals) were exposed to a Water Soluble Fraction (WSF) of the test material over a range of loading rates of 1.0, 1.8, 3.2, 5.6, 10, 18, 32, 56 and 100 mg/L for 48 hours under static test conditions. Effect concentrations based on nominal loading rates of Water Soluble Fractions (WSF): After 24 h exposure: ELR50 = 23.0 mg/L; NOEC = 10.0 mg/L. After 48 h: ELR50 = 8.3 mg/L; NOEC = 3.2 mg/L. Analysis of the test preparations of 0 and 48 hours confirmed that there was no significant change in phosphorus concentration over a 48 hour period. Therefore based on the results of the test sample analyses the EC50 values were also calculated in terms of the amount of test material present in the WSF: After 24 h exposure: EC50 = 7.9 mg/L; NOEC = 3.1 mg/L. After 48 h exposure: EC50 = 2.9 mg/L; NOEC = 1.0 mg/L.
