Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Cyclohexane is considered to be readily biodegradable. Cyclohexane is also expected to have low potential for bioaccumulation based on the estimated BCF of 167 calculated using an experimental log Kow of 3.44. The estimated Koc value of 770 indicates that cyclohexane is expected to have low adsorption to suspended solids and sediment in water. Structural analysis of the cyclohexane molecule indicates that it is not expected to undergo hydrolysis in the environment due to the lack of hydrolysable functional groups. The physico-chemical properties of cyclohexane indicate that the majority of this substance will ultimately be released to the atmosphere where it is quickly photooxidised with a half-life of 52 hours.

Cyclohexane is not expected to persist in the environment because it is readily biodegradable, has a low potential for adsorption to organic matter and has a low potential for bioaccumulation. Therefore, for PBT assessment cyclohexane is considered to be not P and not B.
