Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
no guideline followed
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Effects of sodium tripolyphosphate on cadmium toxicity administered subcutaneously were studied.
Animals were administered 30µmole/kg cadmium, 30µmole/kg CD + 90µmole STTP and 90µmole/kg STPP
Animals given STTP alone were sacrificed 24h post administration and the liver prepared for histological evaluation.
GLP compliance:
not specified

Results and discussion

Mortality:
7/10 animals receiving 30µmole/kg Cd + 90µmole/mg STPP
0/6 animals receiving 90µmole/kg STPP
Gross pathology:
All animals had normal livers

Any other information on results incl. tables

No effects were reported at 90µmole/kg

Animals treated with cadmium and STPP suffered greater effects than animals administered with cadmium alone or STPP alone.
