Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Average size diameter (key study): 20, 90 and 112 µm depending on the source of the test article.
Mass Median Diameter (supporting study): Inhalable fraction (less than 100 µm): 47.9%; Thoracic fraction (less than 10 µm): > 26.8%; Respirable fraction (less than 4 µm): < 1%.

Additional information

Based on the information obtained from a key study by Langheim (2001) using Laser Sizer LS 230, average particle sizes of 20 µm, 90 µm, and 112 µm were reported depending on the source of the test article.

In a supporting study by Griniene (2010) the mean values for test substance particles with diameters below 100 µm, 10 µm and 4 µm were 47.9%, greater than 26.8, and less than 1%, respectively.
