Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
stability in organic solvents and identity of relevant degradation products
Type of information:
other: expert statement
Adequacy of study:
supporting study
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The stability of the test substance in organic solvents under normal ambient conditions was evaluated.
Structurally related chemicals often show similar behaviour according to their chemical structure. The evaluation is restricted to pure "common" organic solvents (Commodities), appropriate ambient conditions and evaluation of hydrolysis, photolysis and of oxidation.
GLP compliance:
no
Conclusions:
The substance is stable in common organic solvents; solvents containing a carbonyl moiety may lead to imines formation with primary amines.
Executive summary:

This assessment is based on text-book chemical knowledge and practical handling experience.

Primary aliphatic alkyl amines are known to react with carbonyl groups under formation of imines. With respect to common organic solvents not bearing the carbonyl moiety, aliphatic alkyl amines

are known to be stable.

Overall result:

The substance is stable in common organic solvents; solvents containing a carbonyl moiety may lead to imines formation with primary amines.

Endpoint:
stability in organic solvents and identity of relevant degradation products
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the stability of the substance is not considered to be critical

Description of key information

Stable in common organic solvents

Additional information

The stability of the submission substance in organic solvents is not considered to be critical (no testing required): based on text-book chemical knowledge and practical handling experience, the substance is stable in common organic solvents; solvents containing a carbonyl moiety may lead to imines formation with primary amines.
