Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

- Not highly flammable

- No pyrophoric properties

- Does not liberate flammable gases on contact with water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

- The flammability of a liquid is derived from flash point and was determined to be 146°C.

- Based on chemical structure and experience in handling and use of substance the pyrophoric properties and the flammability in contact with water are not to be expected.

Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance May 2008, Section 7.1.10, page 120," A flammable liquid is one with a flash point below the upper limit set in the classification and labelling criteria". The experimentally derived flash point of B-TEGME is 146 °C. Based on this classification is not needed according to GHS (2009).

There is no structural alert that B-TEGME may have pyrophoric properties or is highly flammable when in contact with water. Therefore, a separate test for flammability is not needed and the information obtained is reliable and relevant for non-classification.

Justification for classification or non-classification

- The flammability of a liquid is derived from flash point and was determined to be greater than 100°C.

- Based on chemical structure and experience in handling and use of substance the pyrophoric properties and the flammability in contact with water are not to be expected.

It can be concluded that the substance is not considered to be classified as a flammable material.
