Description of key information

No toxicity to algae is observed up to the limit of water solubility of Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsaturated, branched and linear.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One study, investigating the toxicity to aquatic algae of Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsaturated, branched and linear (CAS No. 68955-98-6) is available.

The toxicity to aquatic to green algae, Desmodesmus subspicatus to Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsaturated, branched and linear (CAS No. 68955-98-6) was tested with WAFs, under static conditions according to OECD 201. No effects on growth rate or biomass were observed within the 72 hour test period being exposed to a 1000 mg/L Water Accommodated Fraction loading rate (NOELR > 1000 mg/L) (Sewell, 1994).

Based on this result, it can be concluded that Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsaturated, branched and linear (CAS No. 68955-98-6) does not show any toxicity to algae up to the limit of water solubility.
