Description of key information

Biodegradation in water: Screening test: Key study: Based on the experimental results on test item butan-2-one O,O',O''-(methylsilanetriyl)oxime was determined not to be readily biodegradable. This result was supported by EPI-Suite, EPA (USA) / BIOWIN v4.10 calculation method.

Biodegradation in water: Simulation test: Data waiving (technically not feasible): In accordance with section 2 of REACH Annex XI, the simulation test study on water is technically not possible because the substance is hydrolytically unstable. The test item undergoes rapid hydrolysis (half-life < 1h) in aqueous to 2-butanone oxime and the corresponding methylsilanetriol. Moreover, silanetriols undergo continuous condensation reactions to produce higher molecular weight siloxanes which are considered biologically unavailable.

Biodegradation in sediment: Simulation test: Data waiving (study scientifically not necessary): In accordance with column 1 of REACH Annex IX,  the sediment simulation test study does not need to be conducted as the substance and degradation products have no adsorption potential expected to sediment.

Biodegradation in soil: Data waiving (study scientifically not necessary): In accordance with column 1 of REACH Annex IX,  the soil simulation test study does not need to be conducted as the substance and degradation products have no adsorption potential expected to soil.
