First-aid measures

General information:   Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately.

After inhalation:   Take medical treatment.

After contact with skin:   In case of contact with skin wash off immediately with soap and water. Take for medical treatment.

After contact with eyes:   In case of contact with eyes rinse thoroughly with plenty of lukewarm water and seek medical advice.

After ingestion:   When swallowed seek medical aid immediately and show the physician the packaging or the label of the packaging.

Advice to doctor:   Treatment - Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:   foam,  water spray jet.

Extinguishing media that must not be used for safety reasons:   Full water jet.

Special hazards from the substance itself, its combustion products or from its vapours:   In case of fires, hazardous combustion gases are formed: Carbon monoxide (CO).

Special protective equipment for firefighting:   In case of fire, wear respiratory protection.

Accidental release measures

Methods for cleaning up/taking up:

Take up with suitable equipment and if necessary collect in closed containers.

Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly with water and detergents, observing environmental regulations.

When picked up, treat material as prescribed under heading "Disposal considerations".

Containers in which spilt substance has been collected must be adequately labelled.

Handling and storage

Advice on safe handling:   Avoid dust formation. Avoid breathing dust and contact with skin, eyes and clothing.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion:   The product is combustible. Observe the usual precautionary measures required for chemicals withdust explosive properties (Observe national regulations).

Temperature class :   T2

Dust explosion class :   ST2   Capable of dust explosion.

Further information on storage conditions:   Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place.

Exposure controls / personal protection

During its lifecycle the substance is handled under strictly controlled conditions and is rigorously contained in accordance Art. 18.

Based on the knowledge of the basic hazards to humans and environment technical, organizational and PPE measures are taken to minimize release and exposure of this substance. National regulatory requirements for the handling of chemicals are also fulfilled. Employees are regularly trained. The efficiency of these measures is controlled e.g. by workplace measurements. In case of deviations these measures are adapted.

Occupational exposure controls

General protective measures:   Do not inhale dust.   Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

Respiratory protection:   Dust mask.

Hand protection:   Nitrile rubber applied on knitted cotton for mechanical stress. Leather gloves.

Because this glove is used only for mechanical protection, the minimum breakthrough time and thickness are not relevant to safety.

For long-term exposure:   Butyl rubber gloves.

These types of protective gloves are offered by various manufacturers. Please note the manufacturers´ detailed statements, especially about the minimum thickness and the minimum breakthrough time. Consider also the particular working conditions under which the gloves are being used. With solid dry substances permeation is not to be expected, therefore the breakthrough-time for this protective glove has not been measured.

Eye protection:   safety glasses/face shield.

Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection.

Stability and reactivity

Thermal decomposition :

exothermic reaction > 230°C and > 400°C Method : DSC (with open glass vial + O2 overpressure)

exothermic reaction > 320°C Method : DSC (with sealed glass vial)

Disposal considerations

Product:   In accordance with local authority regulations, take to special waste incineration plant.

Uncleaned packaging:   Packaging that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of as product waste.

Material and its container must be disposed of as hazardous waste.
