Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

DIglycerol was not tested itself, but polyglycerol was tested in a short term toxicity study to fish (Poecilia reticulata).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Fresh water fish

Fresh water fish
Effect concentration:
1 000 mg/L

Additional information

Diglycerol was not tested itself, however, the acute toxicity of Polyglycerol-3 (read across substance partly consisting of diglycerol, see read across report in section 13 of IUCLID) to guppies (Poecilia reticulata) was tested in a limit test at nominal concentrations of 1000 and 0 mg/l according to OECD test guidelin 203. Two test aquariums were used per concentration and each aquarium contained 10 fishes. Mortality of the fish was recorded after 3, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours. There were no effects on behaviour of the fish caused by Polyglycerol-3. The measured concentrations were in agreement with the nominal. The concentrations remained constant during the test. Based on the results of this study, the LC50 after 96 hours is higher than 1000 mg/l.
