Additional information

The category members of the Long Chain Alcohol Esters have potential to bioaccumulate due to the physico-chemical properties (log Kow > 12). However, since they are readily biodegradable, no chronic exposure of aquatic organisms is expected. Should the substances be taken up by fish, they will be rapidly metabolised. A QSAR calculation (BCFBAF v3.00) reveals a low bioaccumulation potential (0.89 – 0.93 L/kg Arnot-Gobas including biotransformation estimate, upper trophic). Therefore, in accordance with Annex XIII of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 the category members of the Long Chain Alcohol Esters have a low potential for bioaccumulation.
An overview of the overall dataset for this endpoint can be found in the data matrix of the justification for category approach.
