Description of key information

The method used to classify Ca tin trioxide for carcinogenicity is the CLP method for mixtures (table 3.6.2). Mixtures containing ≥ 0.1% of a substance classified Carc. Cat 1A, are classified Carc. Cat 1A.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Justification for classification or non-classification

Calcium arsenate is present in Ca tin trioxide in a maximum concentration of 2.3%. Ca arsenate is part of the entry Arsenic acid and salts (033 -005 -00 -1) which is classified Carc Cat. 1A. The cut-off value for carcinogenic classification Cat 1A of the mixture is 0.1% (CLP table 3.6.2).

So Ca tin trioxide is also classified Carc.Cat.1A according to CLP.
