Description of key information

With high probability acutely not harmful to aquatic algae. No acute toxic effects occur within the range of solubility.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The toxicity of the substance to algae was tested in a guideline study following OECD 201 (RCC Ltd. 2002d). Due to the low water solubility of the test item, a supersaturated dispersion of the test item with a loading rate of 100 mg/L was tested. The dispersion was filtered and the undiluted filtrate containing a maximum concentration of dissolved test item was used as test medium and algal cells of the species Desmodesmus subspicatus were exposed for 72 hours. The growth rate of the algae was determined by a cell counter. Based on the algal growth rate and the biomass an EC50 >100 mg/l (NOEC>100 mg/l) based the loading rate was determined.
