Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

For water insoluble solids:

Specific gravity, SG = Wo/W0 + (WA-WB)

Where,

W0 = weight of test chemical in g = WPS - WP

WPS = weight of pycnometer + test chemical

WP = weight of empty pycnometer

WA = weight of pycnometer filled with water

WB = weight of pycnometer filled with water and test chemical

For reporting the density of test chemical multiply the specific gravity of that test chemical with the density of

water at that degree Celsius.

Density (g/cm3) = GS X ρtw

Where,

GS = Calculated specific gravity of that test chemical

ρtw = density of water at test temperature i.e. 20 °C (referred from the Table 1 of the IS 4730)
