A complex combination of hydrocarbons obtained by treatment of Foot's oil with natural or modified clay in either a contacting or percolation process to remove the trace amounts of polar compounds and impurities present. It consists predominantly of branched chain hydrocarbons with carbon numbers predominantly in the range of C20 through C50.
-60°C to 49°C
For complex substances such as petroleum products, pour point may be characterised by a range of temperatures reflecting the pour points of the individual components. Foots oils have pour point values ranging from -60°C to 49°C. A pour point range of 10°C to 49°C was reported by CONCAWE (2010a) while supporting read across data from other lubricant base oils (materials similar to foots oils) indicate a pour point range of -60°C to -6°C (CONCAWE, 1997).
