BNMA has a moderate water solubility (189.6 mg/L at 20°C), a low vapour pressure (0.03 hPa at 20°C) and a low log Kow of 3.1. The substance has a low potential for adsorption to soil (calculated log Koc 2.57 (Kow method) and 2.53 (MCI method)) and a low potential to volatilise from water to air (H = 1.19 Pa m³/mol at 25°C and 1013 hPa).

Results from a Mackay level III distribution modelling indicate that if BNMA is released into air, it mainly remains in the air. A smaller amount partitions to water and soil. If the substance is released into water, it mainly remains in water. The substance does not significantly partition to sediment.
