Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Hydrolysis: Half-life < 1 min at 25°C and pH 4, 7 and 9 (based on read-across from trichloro(methyl)silane)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No hydrolysis study is available for the test substance. However, a reliable study conducted according to OECD 111 is available for the related substance trichloro(methyl)silane. This substance has a half-life of <1 minute at pH 4, 7 and 9 and 1.5°C. Hydrolysis rates increase with temperature; therefore it can be concluded that the half-life at 25°C is <1 min at pH 4, 7 and 9. The bulky side-chain present in the submission substance may be expected to slow the hydrolysis rate, however, data from the category of chlorosilanes suggests that hydrolysis is very rapid for all chlorosilanes. Therefore, it can be concluded that the submission substance will hydrolyse rapidly under environmentally-relevant conditions and no further testing is necessary.
