Results and discussion

During the experiment, twenty-eight applications were made, and at the end of the period no irritation of the skin was noted, and no depilatory action resulted. The skin and the hair of the animals remained healthy in appearance.

 

The examination of the blood of these animals revealed that the red cell count, the amount of haemoglobin in g/100cm³ of blood, the white cell count and the differential count were unaltered during the period of applications and two weeks after cessation of the experiment, indicating that absorption was never sufficient to cause a toxic reaction in the haemopoietic system.
