Biodegradation in water and sediment: simulation tests

Administrative data

Endpoint:
biodegradation in water and sediment: simulation testing, other
Data waiving:
exposure considerations
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because direct and indirect exposure of sediment is unlikely
Justification for type of information:
The study does not need to be conducted since direct and indirect exposure of sediment is unlikely, in accordance with REACH Annex IX, 9.2.1.4., column 2. Use and handling do not create wastewater. Manufacture and formulation only produces very little waste water while washing the system. This is led through an activated carbon filter and into a holding tank. After analysis the pre-cleaned water is sent to the on-site waste water treatment plant in which traces of the substance are degraded. Waste water sludge is not spread on agricultural land but instead deposited as chemical waste. It is not likely that uses lead to exposure of environment as the intention of test item is to be absorbed during uses. Therefore exposure to water and sediment is considered unlikely. Indirect exposure via evaporative routes is very unlikely because of the substance is a salt and has a very low vapour pressure.
