Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Significant accumulation of Mochon, roh (EC 947-389-1) in organisms is not to be expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

QSAR-disclaimer:

In Article 13 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, it is laid down that information on intrinsic properties of substances may be generated by means other than tests, provided that the conditions set out in Annex XI (of the same Regulation) are met.   Furthermore according to Article 25 of the same Regulation testing on vertebrate animals shall be undertaken only as a last resort.

According to Annex XI of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (Q)SAR results can be used if (1) the scientific validity of the (Q)SAR model has been established, (2) the substance falls within the applicability domain of the (Q)SAR model, (3) the results are adequate for the purpose of classification and labeling and/or risk assessment and (4) adequate and reliable documentation of the applied method is provided.

For the assessment of reaction mass of 4-methoxyphenol and 4-methoxy-cyclohexanone and 4-methoxy-cyclohexanol (EC 947-389-1; Mochon roh) (Q)SAR results were used for the estimation of the bioaccumulation factor. The criteria listed in Annex XI of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 are considered to be adequately fulfilled and therefore the endpoint(s) sufficiently covered and suitable for risk assessment.

Therefore, and for reasons of animal welfare, further experimental studies on aquatic bioaccumulation are not provided.

Assessment:

No experimental data on the bioaccumulation potential of reaction mass of 4-methoxyphenol and 4-methoxy-cyclohexanone and 4-methoxy-cyclohexanol (EC 947-389-1; Mochon roh) are available.

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, a bioaccumulation study does not need to be conducted since the constituent substances (CAS 13482-23-0, CAS 18068-06-9 and CAS 150-76-5) have log Kow values of less or equal than 3.

In order to assess the bioaccumulation potential of the substance, the BCF was additionally calculated with several estimation models for the three representative constituents (Table 1).

The substances were within the AD of all estimations models. However, the results using Arnot &Gobas (2003) method may be less acurate for CAS 150 -76 -5 as the substances's property to appreciably ionize at physiological pH.

Since there are no experimental data on the bioaccumulation of the Mochon, roh (EC 947 -389 -1), the data from a read-across were used to estimate the bioaccumulation potential of the substance. Based on a weight-of-evidence approach, significant accumulation in organisms is not to be expected.
