Additional information

FAT 36002 is black powder, solid at 20°C.

No melting point could be detected until 350 °C, as the thermic decomposition of the test substance started at about 280 °C.

No boiling point could be detected, as the thermic decomposition of the test substance started at about 280°C.

The density of FAT 36002 was evaluated in a study conducted according to OECD Guideline 109. Based on the findings of the study, the average density of FAT 36002 was found to be 18703 g/cm³.

The median particle size (L50) of FAT 36002 was determined to be 268.266 µm.

In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the vapour pressure study does not need to be conducted if the melting point is above 300 °C. As no melting point could be detected until 300°C for FAT 36002, the study is waived.

The partition coefficent n-octanol / water of the test item at 20 °C was determined to be log Pow = > 6.1(Pow = > 1313868).

The test item is insoluble (< 0.1 mg/L). The water solubility cs of the test item at a temperature of 20 °C was determined to be < 1.0 μg/l

The surface tension of the test item was determined to be 73.172 mN/m at room temperature ca 20 °C.

As the substance is a solid with a high melting point (no melting point could be detected until 350 °C, as the thermic decomposition of the test substance started at about 280 °C), the Flash point could not be determined and is waived in accordance with Section 2 of REACH Annex XI.

The auto-ignition temperature of FAT 36002 could not be determined as no auto-ignition occurred up to 550 °C.

The determination of the flammabilty properties of the test item was performed according to the EU method A.10. No ignition was observed throughout the course of the test. The test item should be considered as not highly flammable.

An expert assessment has been performed to assess the explosive property of the test substance. Analysis of the chemical structure reveals no chemical alert structures for explosive properties. The calculated chemical oxygen balance is above the trigger value of -200, but the determination of the exothermic decomposition energy demonstrated an energy release far below the critical value of 500 J/g. Therefore the substance is considered to be non-explosive according to Directive 67/548/EEC and Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and no further testing is required.

Based on the information and review of the substance, it is deemed not to be potentially oxidising, based on the chemical structure, the oxygen balance values and the known experience in the handling and use of substances. Therefore, the substance is not classified as oxidising, according to the CLP Regulation (EC 1272/2008).
