Given the extremely high water solubility of DIGIRENA SA TEMABF4 anhydrous, it was anticipated that the log10Pow value would be very low and that practical determination of this parameter would not be feasible.

The n-octanol solubility was determined to be less than 1 g/L. The water solubility was determined in an other test to be greater than 2000 g/L.

These values yielded an estimated Pow value (n-octanol solubility / water solubility) of less than 5 x 10-4 (equivalent log10Pow < -3.3). This value is well below that which can routinely be determined by available methods (the shake-flask and HPLC methods generally cover the ranges of log10Pow values from -2 to 4 and 0 to 6 respectively).
