Description of key information

The estimated log Koc of Betoxol II was determined to be 0.16 +/- 0.006 (extrapolated value). According to the McCall classification scheme of soil mobility potential a Koc of 1.46 would mean a very high mobility for the test item in soil.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Koc at 20 °C:
1.46

Additional information

The estimation of the adsorption coefficient (Koc) on soil and on sewage sludge using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was carried out according to OECD guideline 121. The test was conducted with a concentration of 4mg/L in mobile phase consisting of 55v/v% acetonitrile : 45v/v% citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Samples of the test item Betoxol II were analysed threefold by HPLC on a cyanopropyl column with UV detection. Calibration was performed using six reference items with known values of log Koc (values from batch equilibrium experiments given in literature) each with a nominal concentration of 1mg/L in mobile phase. Analysis of the reference items were performed once before and after analysis of the test item. Dead time of the HPLC system was determined threefold using 1mg/L sodium nitrate in mobile phase. The estimated log Koc of Betoxol II was determined to be 0.16 +/- 0.006 (extrapolated value). According to the McCall classification scheme of soil mobility potential a Koc of 1.46 would mean a very high mobility for the test item in soil.
