Conclusions:
The partition coefficient (n-octanol/water) of test substance 2-amino-3,5-xylenesulphonic acid (CAS No. 88-22-2) was determined as per the HPLC method (OECD Guideline-117). The Log Pow value was determined to be 0.814 ± 0.018 dimensionless at 25°C.

The partition Coefficient n-octanol/water of test chmeical 2-amino-3,5-xylenesulphonic acid (CAS No. 88-22-2) was determined by the Reverse Phase High Performance Liquid Chromatographic method according to OECD Guideline No. 117 for testing of Chemicals. The reference substances were chosen according to estimated Pow range of the test substance and generalized calibration graph was prepared.The reference substances were having Pow value ranging from 1.5 to 4.6 .The Log Pow value was determined to be 0.814 ± 0.018 dimensionless at 25°C.This value indicates that the substance is hydrophilic in nature.

Based on the available data in a key study from modelling database using the KOWWIN V1.68 program, the partition coefficient (log Pow) value of the substance 2 -amino-3,5 -dimethylbenzene- 1 -sulfonic acid was estimated to be -0.99.

Additional supporting study from modeling database indicates that the partition coefficient (log Pow) value of the substance 2-amino-3,5-dimethylbenzene-1-sulfonic acid was estimated to be 1.1.

Thus, on the basis of logPow value, chemical 2-amino-3,5-dimethylbenzene-1-sulfonic acid can be considered to be hydrophilic in nature.
