Additional information

One experimental study is available investigating the long-term toxicity of aminoiminomethanesulphinic acid (CAS No. 1758-73-2) to aquatic invertebrates (MOE, 1999). The study was performed according to OECD 211 (GLP) under flow-through conditions. Daphnia magna was exposed to five nominal concentrations up to 40 mg/L. The concentrations were selected based on a preliminary range-finding study. Analytical measurements by HPLC showed that the measured concentrations were > 80% of nominal. However, the effect concentrations were based on the arithmetic mean measured concentrations. Mortality of 10% of parent animals was recorded in the measured concentrations of 2.13 and 8.22 mg/L, 30% in 16.9 mg/L and 100% in 34.5 mg/L, whereas no mortality was observed in the control. After 21 d a NOEC of 2.13 mg/L (measured) based on reproduction resulted.
