Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In the assessment of bismuth (3+) neodecanoate, read-across to the assessment entities bismuth cations and neodecanoate anions is applied since the ions of bismuth (3+) neodecanoate determine its fate and toxicity in the environment. A 72-h EC50 (biomass and growth) of > 100 mg/L bismuth (WAF, 7 d equilibration), corresponding to a measured dissolved concentration of > 0.046 mg/L bismuth, was determined for P. subcapitata. The toxicity of neodecanoic acid was evaluated, yielding a 72-h EL50 of >100 mg/Lfor the inhibition of growth of P. subcapitata. Thus, bismuth (3+) neodecanoate has a low (if any) potential for toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria.
