Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

In the acute immobilisation test with Daphnia magna (STRAUS), the effects of the test item disodium (sulphonatothio)acetate; dried were determined according to OECD 202 (2004). The study (BASF SE, 2015) was conducted under static conditions over a period of 48 hours. Twenty daphnids were exposed to each concentration level and the control.

In this aquatic test, the original liquid product was tested. This product contains 39.3 % dry content, which is identical with the test item "Disodium (sulphonatothio)acetate; dried". This dry content contains 75% of the chemical disodium (sulphonatothio) acetate. The results of the toxicity test are reported based on the dry content. Additionally, the results are given for the liquid product. A water solubility of 557 + 24 g/L at 20.0 °C ± 0.5 °C was determined with the dried product and refers to the dry content. The measured concentrations of the test item at the start of the exposure (0 hours) were in the range of 91 to 98 % of the nominal concentrations. At the end of the exposure (48 hours), the measured concentrations were in the range of 89 to 118 %. The measured concentrations at the start of exposure (0 hours) were determined to be 1177, 758, 455, 278 and 188 mg/L. At the end of the exposure (48 hours) the measured concentrations of the test substances were determined to be 1310, 697, 502, 288 and 226 mg/L.

The measured test item concentrations remained stable within ± 20 % of the nominal concentrations throughout the exposure period. Therefore, the effect levels are based on the nominal dry content and additionally based on the nominal concentrations of the test item disodium (sulphonatothio)acetate; dried.

Based on the nominal dry content of the test item disodium (sulphonatothio)acetate; dried, the 48 hour-EC50 for Daphnia magna was determined to be 220 mg/L. Based on the nominal concentrations of the liquid test item (containing 39.3% dry content) disodium (sulphonatothio)acetate; dried, the 48 hour-EC50 for Daphnia magna was determined to be 560 mg/L.
