Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

In the paper Johnson Jr. W., Safety assessment of Chlorphenesin as Used in Cosmetics, International Journal of Toxicology, 33 (Suppl.2),p.5-15, 2014 public on CIR website, the test item density of 0.70 - 075 was reported. No details regarding the method used for the test were reported in the secondary source but the primary source refers to British Pharmacopoeia method  (Primary source: Unilab Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd. Certificate of analysis and MSDS: Chlorphenesin BP (British Pharmacopoeia). Unpublished data submitted by the Personal Care Products Council on July 13, 2011; 2010:1-4). To confirm this data an estimated value for density for the smile Clc1ccc(OC(O)CCO)cc1 was calculated using the public software ACD/Labs Percepta Platform - PhysChem Module available with free ChemSketch version: the predicted value was 1.3 g/cm^3 at T=20 °C (equivalent to 1.3 relative density). The experimental data based on British Pharmacopoeia method  is prefered than predicted value. Both values are similar.
