Description of key information

The substance can be considered as a neutral molecule in the pH range 2-10, which is of relevance for aqueous biological systems.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The substance contains only aliphatic hydrogens, one carbonyl group and an alcoholic group, which cannot be protonated or deprotonated in the range pH 1 -12. The calculated pka of 15.1, which was calculated with the computer program ACD/pKa DB, is outside the pH range of physiological interest. Therefore the substance is to be considered a neutral molecule in the pH range 2-10, which is of relevance for aqueous biological systems.
