Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Study design

Analytical monitoring:
yes
Details on sampling:
For the 1H NMR measurement 850 μl of the buffer solutions containing about 5 μl of “Silan
DBA-TEO” (pH 4.0, pH 7.0, pH 9.0 respectively) were mixed with 150 μl of deuterated water
(D2O), containing 3-trimethylsilylpropionic acid, sodium salt, 2,2,3,3-tetradeuterated
(Na-TSP-d4) as shift and internal standard in a 5 mm NMR sample tube.
Buffers:
pH 4.0: CertiPur, Citric acid + hydrochloric acid + sodium hydroxide, company Merck
pH 7.0: Baker Analyzed, Potassium dihydrogen phosphate + disodiumhydrogen phosphate, company J. T. Baker
pH 9.0: CertiPur, Boronic acid + potassium chloride + sodium hydroxide, company Merck
Details on test conditions:
Medium: Water-d2 / Na-TSP-d4 (5006.46 mg D2O + 21.53 mg Na-TSP-d4)
Temperature: 25 °C
Duration of experiment: About 1 h for each buffered sample
Analysis: 1H NMR

Details on results:
At all examined pH values only signals of N,N-dibutylaminomethylsilanetriol and ethanol
could be observed after the first measurement. There was no signal of ethoxysilane detectable.
Therefore it was concluded that hydrolysis was already completed when the first
spectrum of these pH series was measured.
Because hydrolysis was finished after the first 1H NMR measurement (about 2 minutes after
mixing the test sample) no exact half-life time or reaction rate could be calculated.
