The test item has been tested in several aquatic species including fish, daphnia and algae. Acute and chronic test results are available.


The key study according to OECD TG 203 regarding acute toxicity for fish (medaka) shows a LC 50 (96h) of 237 mg/L. Supporting studies with medaka and zebrafish show a LC50 (96h) of > 100 mg/L and LC50 (96h) > 1000 mg/L respectively. Additionally, a prolonged supporting toxicity test according to OECD TG 204 using Medaka resulted in a LC50 (14 d) of 88.1 mg/L.


Regarding aquatic invertebrates there are acute (OECD TG 202) and chronic data (OECD TG 211) available for daphnia magna. The EC50 (48h) value for immobilization is 100.1 mg/L, the chronic NOEC (21d) for reproduction is 3.7 mg/L. A supporting study shows an EC50 (48h) value for immobilization of 560 mg/L.


The toxicity to aquatic algae was investigated by tests according to OECD TG 201 with Raphidocelis subcapitata and Scendedesmus subspicatus. In the key study with Raphidocelis subcapitata the acute EC 50 (72h) based on the growth rate is 107 mg/L and the chronic NOEC (72h) value is 76 mg/L. In the supporting study with Scendedesmus subspicatus acute EC 50 (72h) is 158 mg/L and the chronic NOEC (72h) value is 10 mg/L. 


The inhibition of the test item regarding domestic sewage sludge was investigated by a key study according to EU Method C.11. The key study shows an EC 50 of > 100 mg/L and an EC 20 of >100 mg/L based on the nominal loading rate. No analytical monitoring was carried out. Nevertheless, the substance is well soluble (>100 g/L). The highest inhibition with 16% was observed at 100 mg/L. The EC10 is within the range from 32 mg/L to 100 mg/L.
