Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The PNEC for sediment organisms is calculated using the EPM as 1.88 mg/kg dw. To compensate for the additional exposure via ingestion of a sorbing substance an assessment factor of 10 can be applied. The PNECsed for freshwater is then 0.188 mg/kg dw

The PNECsed for marine conditions is 10 times lower = 0.0188 mg/kg dw

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The available PNECaquaticfor CocoDMAPA is based on the bulk concentration present in surface water a re-calculation is necessary first:

PNECaquatic, dissolved       = PNECaquatic bulk/ (1 + Kpsusp* SUSPwater* 10-6) = 0.2859 µg/L

Where:

PNECaquatic bulk                        =         0.3 µg/L

Kpsusp                                      =        3300 L.kg-1

SUSPwater                                 =         15 mg.L-1(TGD)

PNECsed for CocoDMAPA

In the absence of measured data the PNECsedcan provisionally be calculated using the equilibrium partitioning method (EPM). According to the TGD this method uses the PNECaquaticand the sediment/water partitioning coefficient as inputs.

The PNECsedis then calculated using the equations detailed in the TGD:

PNECsed =   Ksusp-water* PNECaquatic dissolved* 1000 * 1 / RHOsusp

Where:

PNECaquatic dissolved     = 0.2859 µg/L

Kd soil                        = 3300 L/kg

Ksusp-water                    = 1650 m3.m-3

RHOsusp                      = 1150 kg.m-3(TGD, eq. 18)

PNECsed-EPM               = 0.41 mg/kg ww

= 1.88 mg/kg dw with additional factor of 10 = 0.19 mg/kg dw
