Description of key information

The BCF of n-pentane was calculated as 171 using a log Kow of 3.45. This data is read across to the Hydrocarbons,C5,n-alkanes,isoalkanes

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
171

Additional information

The QSAR used to calculate the BCF of n-pentane followed the TGD guideline and is considered appropriate to estimate the potential bioconcentration of n-pentane. The calculated BCF of 171 indicates that the pentane substances have a low potential to bioaccumulate in the lipids of ecological receptors.
