Additional information

Data on physical properties were obtained from both the member companies and a number of secondary sources. The data in these secondary sources are based on a critical evaluation of peer-reviewed data and the selected values are considered to be reliable and representative of the property under investigation. Information in the review process was documented in the introduction of the source. The use of Klimisch codes (Klimisch et al., 1997), was extended to these secondary sources and a reliability code of (2)valid with restrictions was assigned when using the authoritative secondary source.

According to the CLP legislation (2008) a liquid with a flash point of <23°C and a boiling point of < 35°C is classifiable as a Category 1 with the hazard statement "extremely flammable liquid/vapour" and a liquid with a flash point of <23°C and a boiling point of >35°C is classified as a Category 2 flammable liquid with the highly flammable liquid/vapour. Therefore, Hydrocarbons, C5, n-alkanes,isoalkanes with a boiling point range of 14 to 50°C and a flashpoint of -20°C, can be classified as flammable category 1, with the hazard statement “extremely flammable liquid and vapour”. These classifications have been agreed by the consortium to represent the respective substances.
