Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

For constituents of the uvcb substance, adsorption to solid soil phase is to be expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The adsorption coefficient was determined in a HPLC screening study according to OECD 106 investigating the uvcb substance (Fraunhofer-lnstitut für Umweltchemie und Ökotoxikologie,1997). The KOC of the individual components were investigated and for a major constituent structure A determined to be 199526 (logKOC 5.31) and for the constituents with higher molecular weight > 5.63.The log Koc values for the butylated derivatives could not be determined by means of the normal evaluation procedure because the retention times and the corresponding capacity factor were outside the calibration range.

The results are supported by EPISUITE estimations.

For Structure A the results of the estimations are logKOCs of 5.3 (MCI method) and 3.6 (estimated from measured logKow of 5) (BASF SE, 2011). Based on the consensus of MCI methodology and experimental data the logKOC of 5.3 is used for further assessments.

The KOC increases with increasing butylation of the constituents.

For Structures B to I the estimated logKOC values are: 5.469 (logKow method Structure B) to 8.661 (MCI method Structure H).

The values based on the logKow method are for Structures D to I less reliable as the structures are out of the applicability domain of the model due to their high logKow.
