Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

N,N'-dithiodimorpholine is hydrolitically unstable in water in the pH range 4 to 9. Half-life is inferior to one day at all tested pH. The main metabolite is morpholine.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

N,N'-dithiomorpholine hydrolysis was studied according to a GLP OECD 111 study (Chastenet, 2014). At pH 1.2 and 37°C, half-life was inferior to 30 min. At pH 4 and 25°C, half-life was inferior to 1 hour. At pH 7 and 25°C, half life was around 3 hours. At pH 9 and 25°C, half-life was aroung 20 hours. N,N'-dithiodimorpholine mainly degrades in morpholine on the one hand and probably sulfure on the other hand, although sulfure was not seen by chromatography.
