Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria

Administrative data

Endpoint:
toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
study well documented, meets generally accepted scientific principles, acceptable for assessment
Justification for type of information:
For this endpoint, an analysis based on the components is performed. Based on SIDS report on Sodium carbonate no acute toxicity was observed on the three trophic levels, including the algae. Based on the SIDS report and EU-RAR about sodium hydroxide, no acute toxicity was observed on the three trophic levels, including the algae. For Na2S, based on registration dossier data, algae toxicity was observed, with an EC50 of 0.104 mg/L. Several other data are available in the registration dossier. The conclusion is that for the multi-constituent, an algae toxicity is taken into account based on Na2S.
