Description of key information

Poorly biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The substance belongs to the category of perylene pigments as indicated by its chemical core structure. Based on this structure and the chemical and biological stability of perylene pigments under environmental conditions, data from structural analogue perylene pigments can be used to cover this endpoint required under REACh.

The biodegradability of the analogue substances (CAS 81 -33 -4; EC 479 -300 -2; EC 475 -310 -6) were tested in a guideline studies following OECD 301F. The biodegradation rate was determined by measuring the O2 consumption of domestic activated sludge. At test termination after 28 days a degradation rate of <10 % was determined, respectively [BASF AG 1999, BASF 2006].
