Description of key information

The toxicity of the substance to microorganisms was investigated in an activated sludge respiration inhibition study according to OECD TG 209 and in compliance with GLP (Harlan, 2015). In this study activated sewage sludge from an STP treating predominantly domestic sewage, was exposed to an aqueous dispersion of test item at nominal concentrations of 0 (control), 18, 32 and 56 mg/L for a period of 3 hours. Test concentrations were not analytically verified. All validity criteria were met.

No statistically significantly toxic effects were shown at the test concentrations of 18, 32 and 56 mg/L. An additional experiment with 100 mg/L test item was performed under the same conditions in order to confirm a 3h-NOEC of 56 mg/L as determined in the previous test. As at this test concentration a statistically significant inhibition of 10-18% was observed, the NOEC was determined at 56 mg/L. Based on the results, the 3-h EC50, EC10, and NOEC values are >56 mg/L, >56 mg/L, and 56 mg/L, respectively, based on nominal concentrations.
