Description of key information

Two biodegradation tests in water are available, a regular CO2 evolution test (Clarke, 2010 - report 41003975) and an enhanced CO2 evolution test (Clarke, 2010 - report 41003980). Both tests concluded that the substance is not readily biodegradable, although limited biodegradation was observed.


Additionally, a QSAR exercise was performed aiming to identify the potential biodegradation pathway of each “representative” component of the UVCB substance. Once these potential pathways were constructed, the intermediates and end products were assessed for their P (B and T) properties in view of the PBT/vPvB assessment.


The relevant degradation products of the substance were identified by means of the EAWAG-BBD Pathway Prediction System model. The biodegradability of each of these degradation products was predicted using the QSAR model BIOWIN available in the EPI Suite software. Of the 42 identified degradation products, 11 were predicted to be not readily biodegradable and the remaining 31 were predicted to be readily biodegradable.
