Additional information

In the Klimisch 1 key study from Bütfering (2012) the oxidizing properties of the test item Butanedioic acid, 2(or 3)-sulfo-, 4-[2-[(1-oxo(C12-C18(even numbered) and C18unsaturated)alkyl))amino]ethyl]esters, disodium salts was determined according to EU Method A.17 (Oxidising Properties (Solids)). Prior to testing the test material was grinded and mixed with cellulose. The preliminary screening test showed slow propagation and the flame ceases after 2 minutes. Therefore the full test was carried out. The mixtures in the range of 10 to 40 % sample / cellulose showed a very slow combustion. After 10 minutes and a distance of up to 40 mm the test was aborted. The sample mixtures of 50 % to 90 % sample / cellulose showed no progression of the flame after igniting and an immediate extinction of the flame.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Since the burning has not propagated, the test item has no oxidizing properties according to the definition in the Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 EEC. Hence, classification is not needed.
